An agreement was inked between MP Power Management Company and Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for providing 500 MW power at lower rates to Madhya Pradesh under Renewable Purchase Obligations (RPO) set by Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (MPERC) for the year 2021-22.

From SECI AGM (P.S) Atulya Kumar Nayak and Chief General Manager of Power Management Company Rajiv Keskar signed the agreement at regional office of Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company.

According to the agreement signed on Wednesday, out of 2000 MW power for which tender was floated 500 MW would be provided by SECI and the rate would be Rs 2.59 per unit. Notably, Energy Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh has requested to Government of India competitive bidding for production of power from non-solar energy sources and considering the request under the competitive bidding for fixing of rates of electricity Government of India in the year 2017 issued instructions of Central Transmission Utility (CTU) connected 1000 MW wind power plant through SECI.

The competitive bidding process has been done four times for capacity of 1000 MW, 1000 MW, 2000 MW and 2000 MW wind power plants have been completed.

At present in Madhya Pradesh around 2360 MW wind power plants are functional and power is purchased by MP Power Management Company as per rates fixed by Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (MPERC).

On the occasion OSD PK Chaturvedi, additional secretary Ashok Kumar Sharma, Neeraj Agrawal and NK Sharma were present.
