AP State to generate 7,670 MW of power from new plants

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh government will generate 7,670 MW of electricity from various new projects in the next couple of years. The Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited tabled the copy of its annual report for the year 2016-2017 in AP Assembly on Wednesday.

According to the report, the 800 MW new power generation unit at Dr Narla Tata Rao Thermal Power Station (NTTPS) in Vijayawada and another plant with the same capacity Krishnapatnam TPP stage-2 will be commissioned in April 2019.

The 400 MW solar power project in Anantapur will be commissioned by July this year. Similarly the 100 MW solar project in Anantapur and 10 megawatt Ramagiri windmills project will be commissioned by June this year.

The corporation has also indicated that the 12×80 megawatt Polavaram HEP project would be completed in 2021. The Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation said that the 4×1000 Srikakulam power project would be completed in near future.

The corporation showed Rs 8,642 crore turnover as against Rs 8,935 crore for the previous year 2015-16. The gross profit before depreciation and tax is Rs 912.95 crore against the Rs 891.34 crore for the previous year.

Ajay Jain, chairman of the Corporation, announced the action plan in the report. The effects of moisture content in coal pulverisation, standardisation of anti-corrosive coating for power plant applications, study of fireside cracking of water wall tubes and optimum utilisation of fly ash are in the list of action plan report.
