Hyderabad-based Freyr Energy, a full service solar solutions provider with operations in India and Ghana, on Sunday announced that Former NASSCOM Chairman Mr. Som Mittal has joined its Advisory Board .
Welcoming Mittal on board as an Advisor, Freyr Engery Co-Founder and Managing Director , Saurabh Marda said, “We are delighted that Mr. Mittal has agreed to join our Advisory Board. His unique experience in IT, manufacturing, banking and engineering services, will prove invaluable as we embark on our next phase of growth, he said.
Mr. Mittal will advise Freyr Energy on its business strategy, global expansion and team building, the company said in release here.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Som Mittal said, “I am happy to be associated with Freyr Energy which has seen rapid adoption from consumers within a short span of three years, and are on the path to expand globally. It is a privilege to be able to mentor young entrepreneurs, and be a part of their journey of making solar simple and affordable for all.”Mr. Som Mittal, who served the Corporate sector for over three decades in various roles and senior capacities, has held leadership positions in HP, Wipro, Compaq and Digital Equipment Corporation, and in his most recent position as President of NASSCOM, he helped steer the industry which grew from $60 billion in 2008 to $108 billion in 2013.
He is currently on the Board of Directors of several prominent companies such as Axis Bank, Vistara Airlines.
He has successfully led policy advocacy initiatives in India, Washington DC, and Brussels among others. He was a member of the Prime Minister’s Committee on National e-Governance and was the Chairman of the Council which developed the IT vision for Indian Railways.
