Spanish JV partner Solarig to assist on pilot project in Japan

Ahmedabad-based Gensol Group, which specialises in design, engineering, operation and maintenance and advisory services for solar projects, is planning to make India a global back-end hub for engineering and remote monitoring of solar plants, said a top executive.

“We started the pilot project some three months ago to monitor solar plants in Japan,” said Puneet Singh Jaggi, director, Gensol. “For this, we have taken the help of our Spanish joint venture partner Solarig.”

India projects
Currently, Gensol is monitoring about 2,000 MW of solar plants in India.

During the current fiscal, Gensol will add another 2,500 MW of solar plants at the global level, extending its coverage to 200 solar plants of 25 firms in Japan, Spain, France and Italy, among others.

Gensol Group has 10% share in the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) services market in this sector and hopes to achieve 15% by March 2019.

Apart from its presence in design, engineering, operation and maintenance of solar plants, Gensol would take the next step of providing its own developed SCADA system, making it the complete services provider in the O&M segment.

According to him, SCADA is a control system architecture that uses computers, networked data communications and graphical user interfaces for high-level process supervisory management.

The company has two verticals in the rooftop portfolio business — one is maintaining the plant and the other is owning it.

“Currently, we have an installed capacity of 10 MW, while 20 MW is in the pipeline. By end March 2019, we hope to achieve 60 MW. Funds for the first 10 MW are in place and the rest will be raised as and when required,” he said.
