IWC Jamshedpur to install solar panels in Seraikela villages

Jamshedpur: Inner Wheel Club (IWC) of Jamshedpur will be setting up DC Solar panels in adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district.

The club members are looking for government support to help install the solar panels atop houses in the villages of the district were the electricity supply is minimal.

‘We have had talks with state food and civil supplies minister Saryu Rai and hope that Jharkhand government comes out with positive response as the cost of setting up a single unit is Rs 5000’, said Shweta Chand, President of Inner Wheel Club of Jamshedpur.

Addressing a press meet at a city hotel on Wednesday, Shweta Chand informed that the club hopes to execute the plan by end of this year and provide facilities in atleast 10 houses. The solar panel will help light up three bulbs, one fan and one mobile charger will work.

It is small unit and can be installed outside the window or on the terrace. Depends on the Usage battery will be provided. This once charged can be used for two days, added Chand.

Inner Wheel Club of Jamshedpur is very soon going to complete its first quarter of the Inner Wheel Year and has planned several big projects to help the deprived.
Informing about the same, Club President said that we will be installation 24 sanitary napkin vending machines till June 2019.

Health check-up camps in villages along with developing three government schools as happy school. The focus ahead will be women empowerment. Toilet construction in villages, donation of a trolley to a needy lady to earn her livelihood, develop green patch area at the railway station, cleaning river side during Chatt Puja and during Durga Puja the club will be part of Green India project.

Shweta Chand highlighted about the work done by the club and said that the theme of the year is “Empower and Evolve”. This year’s focus is fully on development and empowerment of women in projects related to Women Empowerment, Women & education, Women & Health, Environment, branding of Inner Wheel etc. Also present at the press meet were Aruna Taneja, Pasam Adesara, Kiran Mehta, Nalini Rammurthy, Alokananda Bakshi, Dipti SIngh, Anita Rai, Reeta Jha, Vijayalakshmi Das and others.
