A 10 kilowatt solar energy-based equipment had been installed at Nutan School at Tikrapara locality in the city.

Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal dedicated the solar equipment in the annual day function at the Nutan School on Friday.

The equipment costing `18.50 lakh will generate 14,000 units of electricity every year.

The electricity will help in operating the tube lights, fans, computers and street lights.

Agrawal also said that solar energy-based plant will be installed at JR Dani Government Girls’ Higher Middle School soon.

He said that for the survival of mankind pollution-free environment is mandatory. It is the moral responsibility of all the citizens to make surroundings clean.

There is huge demand for energy and the pollution-free solar energy-based plants can fill the gap, Agrawal said.

While referring to Solar Sujla Project, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had decided to implement the scheme all over the country in a phased manner.

The State will provide solar energy operated irrigation pumps to 51,000 farmers by 2019, he said.
