Reliance Power reports flat profit at Rs 273 crore in Q2, expansion in margins

NEW DELHI: Reliance PowerBSE -2.03 % on Saturday reported a 0.4 per cent year-on-year rise in net profit at Rs 273.15 crore for the September quarter.

The company had reported a net profit of Rs 272.07 crore for the corresponding quarter last year. On a sequential basis, profit rose 18 per cent.

Sales for the quarter fell 7.68 per cent YoY to Rs 2282.20 crore from 2472.10 crore in the year-ago quarter. Ebitda rose 4 per cent YoY to Rs 1,189.50 crore for the quarter, ET Now reported

Margins for the quarter expanded to 52.1 per cent from Rs 43.60 per cent in the same quarter last year.

The company generated 7,635 million units from its Sasan UMPP in Madhya Pradesh at a 87 per cent availability. But the company noted that despite higher generation on YoY basis, revenue fell on account of 55 per cent reduction in coal cost per tonne, which also enhanced merit order position of Sasan UMPP and lowered its per unit tariff for procedures. The company which has capitive coal mines for Sasun produced coal during the quarter.

Rosa Power plant in UP operated at 74 per cent capacity, Butibori power plant in maharashtra 55 per cent and Dhursar Solar PV at 99 per cent.
