In a major thrust to renewable energy, ReNew Power entered into an agreement with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to install solar rooftops across various Metro stations across New Delhi. The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) has been signed for a term of 25 years. The total capacity of the rooftop installations will be retained at 6 MW. 5 MW of the solar power will be installed at parking lots. The Power Purchase Agreement makes it India’s largest solar installation in parking lots across India.

The major lines allocated under this PPA are Dwarka Sector 21 to Rajiv Chowk, Badarpur to Central Secretariat and a few others which are expected to be revealed in the future. Among the major stations which will be covered under the project are Badarpur, Tughlakabad, Dwarka Sec 21, Airport Depot, Govindpuri, Sarita Vihar, Koushambi, Karkarduma, Yamuna Bank, Kirti Nagar among others, which are expected to be completed by February 2017. The project will generate more than 8 million units of power annually and will offset over 7000 tonnes of carbon emissions every year.

Being the biggest solar plant installation in India, the Solar PV Carports will be catering energy to Metro stations across Delhi and will also enable in creation of parking space for two and four wheelers.
