Solar Frontier K.K., the world’s largest provider of CIS solar energy solutions, announced today the installation of its CIS thin-film solar panels at a Shell service station in Thailand. The project was constructed by Energy Pro Corporation Ltd., a Thai solar power EPC specialist that has worked with Solar Frontier on multiple other projects. Solar Frontier’s CIS thin-film solar panels are 21.76kW in size and are installed on two rooftops of the Shell service station in Chacheongsao province. All power generated will be for self-consumption, making the service station eco-friendly.

The installation is part of a wider project by Shell to establish eco-friendly service stations in the Asia Pacific region. As the initial installation of this plan, Shell Thailand launched this new, inaugural solar-powered retail system at the newly-built Shell service station in Chacheongsao. Mr. Asada Harinsuit, Vice President – Retail, East and Chairman, The Shell Company of Thailand said “We are pleased to work with Solar Frontier on this initiative. Shell has been preparing for the challenges of a lower-carbon future for some time through our operations. By using our know-how, technology and innovation, we aim to find more and cleaner energy to help meet the world’s growing energy needs.”

Yuichi Kuroda, Executive Officer of Solar Frontier commented, “As Solar Frontier’s premium CIS thin-film solar panels have been designed with real world conditions in mind, they are able to achieve excellent power output whether they are under strong sunlight or even during the rainy season. This makes them a reliable solution all-year round for saving electricity and promoting green energy for Thailand.” Solar Frontier’s CIS thin-film solar panels have been installed on over 400 Shell service stations throughout Japan and they are instrumental in reducing the grid power consumption, as well as serving as an emergency power source during blackouts and natural disasters.  Solar Frontier will continue to provide solar solutions across all regions by harnessing the power of the sun to make solar power more accessible and provide a cleaner, more comfortable life for all.
