Rahimafrooz Renewable Energy Ltd. (RREL) is recognized internationally as a leading innovator in solar and access to energy solutions in Bangladesh and throughout South Asia for more than 25 years. With installations exceeding more than 35 MWp of solar in Bangladesh, RREL has played a major role in the country’s solar home systems (SHS) initiative that expands access to essential services for its rural population, including solar water pumping, mini grid and decentralized stand-alone solar solutions.

RREL is now taking universal access to energy and power to rural markets through its integrated village-by-village approach, making clean, renewable solar solutions more readily available. In Bangladesh alone, more than 700,000 households in 48,000 villages rely on RREL to power appliances, mini grids, irrigation pumps, mass transportation electric vehicles and solar/biomass cook stoves. The company’s entrepreneurship-based model take an innovative approach, delivering a SMART mobile technology platform to manage delivery, installation and customer service for state-of-the-art solar products and solutions, and providing access to mainstream finance. The combination of these two approaches is driving a comprehensive revolution in solar energy application and rural development.

During his presentation at the SEforALL Forum, Munawar Moin, RREL’s managing director, will detail the company’s growth plans for its new Decentralized Renewable Energy roll out to support universal access to energy and power for this underserved market. This roll out combines with the company’s “Rural Accelerator Initiative,” a multi-stakeholder “collective impact” platform that will significantly strengthen rural economic and social advancements, which is expected to positively impact more than 100 million people across Asia and Africa to create an economic value of US$10 billion by 2022.

As a global platform, SEforALL empowers leaders to build partnerships and unlock finance to achieve universal access to sustainable energy, as the cornerstone to a cleaner, just and prosperous world for all. More than 1,000 high-level representatives from government, business, civil society and international organizations will gather in New York City for the 3rd SEforALL Forum, April 3-5. With the theme “Going Further, Faster – Together,” the Forum will enable SEforAll global partners to share their experiences and serve as a marketplace to help nurture new partnerships and ideas, spur investment and drive action towards sustainable energy and realizing Sustainable Development Goal 7 – Access to Clean, Affordable Energy. The Forum will examine recent data on progress, including the launch of the third edition of the Global Tracking Framework on the delivery of universal access to modern energy services, doubling both the share of renewable energy and the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency by 2030.
