Tata Power Solar, India’s largest integrated solar company, has successfully commissioned a 100 kW rooftop solar project for Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts Pvt. Ltd., near Bengaluru. This is the first solar project undertaken by the company, known for its green philosophy. Completed in a record time of 21 days, this is fastest rooftop installation by Tata Power Solar.

Located at the Bidadi industrial estate, the project is built on the administrative office building of the auto parts manufacturing unit and will be used for captive consumption. The rooftop plant was setup by Tata Power Solar under stringent safety and working conditions, including the fact that a temporary structure had to be built to get access to the rooftop.

Speaking on the project, Ashish Khanna, ED & CEO, Tata Power Solar, said, “We are pleased to partner with Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts for this project. This was a particularly stimulating project for us, given the stringent timelines, and completing it in record time of 21 days showcased our company’s project management skills. Our team executed this project by using the latest supply chain management techniques. We believe adoption of solar in the industry by Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts will help build momentum and could be a possible tipping point for other auto component manufacturing companies to go green.”

The 340 modules manufactured by Tata Power Solar used for the project will generate 1,46,000 units of power and offset nearly 117 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually.

Mr. K G Mohan Kumar, Jt. Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts, said, “As a responsible corporate citizen, we remain focused towards energy security and environment. We have always nurtured green initiatives and we strongly believe in the power of renewable energy in enabling a more sustainable business process. This plant is a first step in that direction and based on the sustenance and reliability of this, we will look at further scaling up our plans in renewable energy. We thank Tata Power Solar for setting this project in such an efficient manner while keeping the renowned high Tata standards.”

Tata Power Solar, having installed 112 MW of rooftop and distributed generation projects across India, was ranked #1 in the solar rooftop market by BRIDGE TO INDIA and presented with the National Excellence Awards 2016 by MNRE for its rooftop solar power projects.
