Known for its highly-regarded industry solutions, the Berlin-based software company Valentin Software has adapted and revised its market-leading design and simulation software PV*SOL and T*SOL, to take the latest technical developments into account. With the new versions, designers and operators can now design their solar systems even faster, simulate precise yield calculations and thus also perform detailed profitability calculations, allowing for government subsidies. The company will present its new products in June at the leading international trade show, Intersolar Europe in Munich.

Import of satellite maps in PV*SOL premium 2016

PV*SOL premium 2016 offers the possibility of importing floor plans, cadastral maps and screenshots from web-based satellite maps (e.g. Google Earth) directly into the 3D visualization and then including them in users’ projects to scale. The dimensions, orientation and the mutual distances of 3D objects (buildings, trees) can therefore be determined easily and without an on-site appointment. By tracing a floor plan, the program can automatically detect and create the standard 3D objects. It then adjusts the dimensions, orientation and position of the object in the plan. ”With the inclusion of this innovation we have managed to offer our customers significant time savings in designing a PV system,” explains Managing Director Steffen Lindemann.

Self-consumption increases profitability

The further feed-in tariffs decrease, the more important it is to take the self-consumption of PV electricity into consideration for the profitability of a photovoltaic system. As self-consumption can be increased by storing the PV electricity in battery systems, the dimensioning of the battery system is also of great importance. PV*SOL is therefore a valuable tool for both the correct dimensioning of systems, as well as for determining the profitability.

All PV*SOL versions are available in English, French, German, Italian, Polish and Spanish. The reports can also be produced in many other languages.

T*SOL 2016 with new systems and generation of energy labels

Valentin Software has adapted T*SOL, its simulation software for solar thermal systems, in accordance with current funding guidelines. The new version T*SOL 2016 allows users to submit the necessary evidence, e.g. to cover heating and hot water requirements, for German government funding programs. For this purpose, Valentin has added some new systems, increasing the number of pre-configured systems available. These include the integration of external circulating heat exchangers and the series connection of solar buffers.

Another new feature in TSOL 2016 is the generation of energy labels. Since September 26, 2015, it is mandatory in the EU for all manufacturers, traders and installers to label all boilers for space heating and hot water systems in respect of their energy use. T*SOL simulates the energy efficiency of solar thermal assisted heating systems and generates the energy label for direct output to a printer. This means, for example, that heating installers are now able to easily produce such a label for each individually assembled system.
