Gamesa, a global technology leader in wind energy, announced recently that it will supply EDP Renewables (EDPR) with wind turbines for its 100 MW Amazon Wind Farm U.S. Central.

Under the terms of the agreement, Gamesa will handle the transport, installation and commissioning of 48 of its industry-leading G114-2.1 MW turbines for the project, located in Paulding County, Ohio. Turbine deliveries are scheduled to begin in Q2 of 2016, and the wind farm is expected to achieve commercial operation by the end of next year. The power generated by the wind farm, enough to power more than 29,000 US homes, will be supplied exclusively to an Amazon data center.

This brings the total volume of firm orders for the G114-2.0 MW and G114-2.1 MW – designed to yield more power, at lower cost, at low and medium wind speed sites- to over 2,000 MW in markets as diverse as Sweden, Thailand, Chile, Turkey and Brazil.Gamesa has a long and substantial presence in the United States, where it has installed more than 4,100 MW.
