Having a vast experience of 32 years in the power industry, Hartek Singh will address the concerns of electrical and electronics equipment manufacturers in the northern region in his new role by acting as an interface between the industry and the government

Chandigarh, March 20, 2019: Hartek Group Chairman and Managing Director Hartek Singh has been appointed as Vice-Chairman of the Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA), the apex body of the country’s electrical and electronic equipment manufacturing industry, for the northern region.

The IEEMA has reposed faith in Hartek Singh to discharge the responsibilities of IEEMA Vice-Chairman owing to his dynamic leadership and extensive experience of 32 years in the power industry. “With his vast experience and understanding of the industry, he will lead the regional activities, benefiting the entire fraternity of the electrical and allied industry in Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh,” the IEEMA said in its appointment letter.

Hartek Singh’s outstanding professional credentials, his impressive track record of working with utilities and his people management skills made him a natural choice for this coveted post. Terming his appointment as an opportunity to work for the advancement of the industry with renewed zeal, the Founder-CMD of the Hartek Group said, “Apart from promoting IEEMA memberships, I will address the concerns of the manufacturers by acting as an interface between the industry and the government. I thank the IEEMA for entrusting me with this responsibility, which I will discharge with utmost sincerity. By resolving the issues confronting the industry and meeting the specific needs of all industry segments through value creation and mobilisation of resources, I rededicate myself to the greater cause of nation building.”

Having a Pan-India presence, the IEEMA is the first ISO-certified industry association with more than 800 member organisations encompassing the entire value chain in power generation, transmission and distribution equipment and electronic goods. Contributing more than 90% of the power equipment installed in India, IEEMA members have a consolidated annual turnover of over $25 billion.

Hartek Singh, who is also the Chairman of the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) Power Committee for the Northern Region, is a first-generation entrepreneur who ventured into the power sector business by embarking on an electrical trading company in 1991, four years after initiating his career as a sales executive of power equipment. He demonstrated his sharp business acumen by building up on the collaborative model of doing business through licence agreements with global industry giants. The initiative gave rise to Hartek India Pvt Ltd, which manufactures medium voltage switchboard panels and control relay panels.

Over the years, Hartek Singh has carved a niche for himself on account of a high-quality product basket, strong client base and adoption of latest technology. As envisioned by him, the Hartek Group today is a diversified conglomerate with business interests across the power sector value chain, operating through five strategic business units—Power Systems, Rooftop Solar, Power Distribution Products, Fuel Services and Value Added  Services.

The Hartek Group has contributed immensely to the T&D value chain by executing over 150 high-voltage and extra high-voltage substations and connecting more than 1,500 MW of solar power to the grid. Having installed 25-MW solar PV projects, the Hartek Group’s rooftop solar business vertical is also firming up its foothold by coming up with innovative solutions and attractive business models to capitalise on emerging trends.
