New Delhi : The country’s leading energy trading platform Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) on Tuesday said it has started trading in energy saving certificates.
IEX said in a statement that the business in energy saving certificates has been started under the Perform Achieve and Trade (PAT) i.e. Performance, Achievement and Business Plan of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE).
On IEX this trading will happen once a week on every Tuesday.
The coverage of the PAT scheme has been expanded to 13 sectors of the country with the highest energy consumption including Cement, Iron & Steel, Fertilizers, Thermal Power Plants, Refineries, Petrochemicals and Railways.
Large units covered under the scheme are given mandatory targets for energy savings and are issued Energy Saving Certificates, which are tradable instruments, for the additional energy saved by them.
