Ikea announced it will remove all non-rechargeable alkaline batteries, such as AAA, AA and 9-volts batteries, from all its stores by October 2021.

The home furnishing company said in a statement that the goal is to inspire consumers who frequently use batteries to make the switch to rechargeable ones in order to reduce waste at home.

“Consumers who need to frequently use batteries can benefit by replacing alkaline with rechargeable batteries,” said Emelie Knoester, Business Area Manager at Ikea. “There are substantial savings to be made over time – on the environment as well as their wallets.” Read More..
