Japanese renewables developer Shizen Energy Inc, together with partner Alamport Inc, has commenced construction of 4.2 MW of rooftop solar power arrays in Indonesia.

The photovoltaic (PV) systems are being built at 13 locations by PT ATW Alam Hijau, a local subsidiary established by the Japanese firms and ATW Group — the local EPC partner.

Specifically, the 13 locations are comprised of two pharmaceutical factories belonging to PT Bintang Toedjoe, a subsidiary of the Kalbe Farma Group; nine vehicles dealer showrooms owned by PT Agung Automall and two timber factories part of PT Sumber Graha Sejahtera, Shinzen said. All the power produced by the PV arrays will be used on site.

The solar systems will be put online between July and October of this year. They will generate 6,151 MWh annually, together, which is enough to avoid 3,772 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) annually.

Financing was granted under a programme for the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) of the Ministry of the Environment of Japan.
