
Karnataka Unveils Ambitious Clean Mobility Policy to Drive ₹50,000 Crore Investments – EQ

In Detail : Karnataka is set to introduce its Clean Mobility Policy for 2025-2030, aiming to position itself as a leader in the clean mobility space. The state has set an ambitious target of attracting ₹50,000 crore in investments and generating 1 lakh jobs by 2030. The policy focuses on promoting sustainable transportation and eco-friendly technologies while contributing to economic growth.
To meet these goals, Karnataka plans to establish three clean mobility clusters in key locations. These clusters will be set up in Gauribidanur, Chikkamalligewada, and Harohalli, offering attractive incentives such as financial support, competitively priced land, pre-built factories, and testing labs. These clusters will play a pivotal role in attracting investments and fostering innovation in clean mobility.
The policy also includes special incentives for the production of electric vehicles (EVs), hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and essential components like batteries, electric motors, and driveline systems. Additionally, manufacturers involved in battery recycling, testing facilities, and clean fuel infrastructure will also benefit from the scheme, ensuring the growth of a comprehensive clean mobility ecosystem.
As part of the initiative, Karnataka will develop a robust network of fast-charging and hydrogen stations. A 25% capital subsidy will be provided for the establishment of 500 fast-charging stations, with additional incentives for battery-swapping stations and hydrogen stations. These measures are designed to address the infrastructure challenges faced by electric vehicles and ensure seamless adoption across the state.
To promote electric vehicle adoption, Karnataka plans to create model EV cities in Kalaburagi, Belagavi, Hubballi-Dharwad, and Mysuru. These cities will serve as examples of successful EV integration, showcasing the potential benefits of clean mobility. Furthermore, the state is in talks with the National Highway Authority of India to establish EV charging stations at major toll booths along the Bengaluru-Pune national highway.
