In Detail : Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (MPUVNL) has launched a solar scheme under the PM-KUSUM-C initiative, targeting landowners near power substations. This program allows farmers and developers to establish solar power plants on suitable land, offering steady income over a 25-year period through Power Purchase Agreements.
The current tender calls for 1,200 MW of grid-connected solar projects, focusing on solarizing agricultural feeders to boost renewable energy use in rural areas. The initiative aims to enhance energy access while providing a new revenue stream for landowners and farmers.
Landowners within roughly five kilometers of 33/11 kV substations are encouraged to participate. The scheme supports two modes: self-development, where farmers directly build and manage solar plants, and developer mode, where companies lease land from farmers to set up the projects.
Financially, the program is designed to be accessible. Eligible farmers and MSMEs are exempt from the bid processing fee, although all participants must submit a bid security of ₹100,000 per MW. A performance bank guarantee of the same amount is required upon selection.
By utilizing underused land near substations, the scheme promotes sustainable development and supports Madhya Pradesh’s renewable energy goals. It also offers farmers a reliable and long-term income source, helping rural communities benefit from the clean energy transition.
Interested parties should submit bids by June 25, 2025. Technical bids will be opened on June 30, with financial bids following on July 10. Details and guidelines are available on MPUVNL’s official e-tendering portal for prospective participants.
