Maharashtra govt will take up pilot project of separate solar feeders

Maharashtra energy minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said the state government will take up a pilot project in which 40 lakh solar feeders for agriculture sector will be set up in the state.

Addressing reporters, Bawanakule said the project has already been running successfully in Sanganmner tehsil of Ahmednagar.

“A separate solar feeder will help take the burden off from the current electricity supply to agriculture. Solar energy, which is cheaper, will provide huge financial relief to the farmers,” the minister said.

He also informed that solar power will also be provided to all zilla parishad schools in the state.

The minister said “the state government has undertaken project to turn schools digital but electricity shortage is putting hurdles in it, now we will solve this problem by providing solar power to all the government schools.”

Bawankule who also has portfolio of state excise, said to curb sale of illicit liquor in rural parts, the government has decided to give more teeth to Gram Suraksha Dal.

“The government will enact law to check sale of illicit liquor in the rural parts. The Gram Suraksha Dal will complain to concern police inspector and excise department about illegal liquor shop in respective villages.

“If the police and excise officer fail to take action against it within 24 hours action will be taken against the erring officers,” said Bawankule.

He said in Jalna district the works of setting of 19 sub-power stations of Rs 124 crore have started.

Bawankule performed bhoomi puja of a sub power station.

He declared Rs 19.60 crore has been sanctioned for power related works in Jalna town.

Bawankule said his ministry is trying to check power theft by adopting new technology.

BJP state unit president Raosaheb Danve, guardian minster Babanrao Lonikar, minister of state for dairy development, Arjun Khotkar were present at the press conference.
