REC, a leading global provider of solar energy solutions with one of the largest vertically integrated and fully automated production facilities in Southeast Asia, is rolling out its successful REC Solar Professional Program for solar installers in India. This comes right after similar programs were launched in the Philippines and Indonesia.

As a global company with business footprints in Asia Pacific, REC believes that a strong local presence should be supported by a network of expert local partners. The REC Solar Professional Program promotes a long-term alliance between both parties, which is important in the fast-paced and dynamic solar industry. A stringent criteria is in place to ensure that only the best and most qualified local partners come onboard as new REC Solar Professionals. This unique differentiator sets them apart from other installers. End customers benefit from the REC Solar Professional Program as they will be assured of a consistently high standard provided by their installers who use REC’s high quality solar panels.

In addition to training programs and exclusive seminars aimed at building their technical and industry knowledge, installers certified as REC Solar Professionals benefit from an extended product warranty (an additional two years on top of the REC’s standard 10-year product warranty), service fee for approved claims and access to sales and marketing tools that support their business success.

Steve O’Neil, REC’s CEO said, “REC’s Solar Professional Program is a key differentiator that sets us apart from our competitors. We equip in-country installers with the tools and technical skills to increase their credibility and grow their businesses as professionals. We are delighted to offer this program to solar installers in Southeast Asia. We started this initiative in the Philippines, followed by Indonesia and now India. All installers can now provide their customers with high-quality installations backed by excellent technical and safety expertise, with the assurance of REC’s high performing solar panels.”

A total of 20 companies from India were certified as REC installers. 9 were from Chennai with the remaining 11 from New Delhi.India is now the world’s fastest-growing economy and is set to become the world’s most populous country in seven years.According to the World Resources Institute, a global research body, India is also the world’s third-biggest emitter of carbon, after China and the U.S. Its annual greenhouse emissions could reach one of the world’s highest by 2050. Achieving effective climate policy in India is a global challenge, and one that, if surmounted, could bring global benefits.

India’s solar market is set for a big boost. Under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy’s National Solar Mission, India aims to have an installed solar power capacity of 100 gigawatts by 2022. This will include 40 GW rooftop solar power capacity and 57 GW utility-scale solar power projects. India had an operational solar power capacity of around 3 GW when the National Solar Mission announced its targets earlier this year.Globally, solar power would account for the biggest single part of electricity supply by 2050. Solar power is a way to boost business for India, massively increase Indians’ access to power at the same time for a country that is in dire need of renewable energy. About 200 million Indians, about one in seven citizens, are currently without electricity

REC Solar Professional Program for solar installers in India is a timely response to the demand for solar power. Through itsnetwork of qualified installers and Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) companies trained by REC,customers in India can be assured of high-quality installations backed by excellent technical and safety expertise, with the assurance of REC’s high performing solar panels. The extended two-year warranty period is provided to customers with rooftops of up to 500kW capacity.
