This comes right after similar programs were launched in the Philippines and Indonesia.

In addition to training programs and exclusive seminars aimed at building their technical and industry knowledge, installers certified as REC Solar Professionals benefit from an extended product warranty (an additional two years on top of the REC’s standard 10-year product warranty), service fee for approved claims and access to sales and marketing tools that support their business success.

A total of 20 companies from India were certified as REC installers. 9 were from Chennai with the remaining 11 from New Delhi.India is now the world’s fastest-growing economy and is set to become the world’s most populous country in seven years.According to the World Resources Institute, a global research body, India is also the world’s third-biggest emitter of carbon, after China and the U.S. Its annual greenhouse emissions could reach one of the world’s highest by 2050. India’s solar market is set for a big boost. Under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy’s National Solar Mission, India aims to have an installed solar power capacity of 100 gigawatts by 2022. This will include 40 GW rooftop solar power capacity and 57 GW utility-scale solar power projects. India had an operational solar power capacity of around 3 GW when the National Solar Mission announced its targets earlier this year.Globally, solar power would account for the biggest single part of electricity supply by 2050. Solar power is a way to boost business for India, massively increase Indians’ access to power at the same time for a country that is in dire need of renewable energy. About 200 million Indians, about one in seven citizens, are currently without electricity
