Tender Results : NLC Solar with Storage Tender Bid Results: Paving way for Opening up of the Energy Storage and Ancillary Services Sector in India
With persistent efforts of MoP, MNRE, NLC and Administration of Andaman & Nicobar, Solar with Storage is soon going to become a reality in India. The recently concluded bid invited by NLC has seen record participation by 10 large corporations in India. Mahindra Susten emerged as the lowest bidder at Rs 289 Cr which is 38% lower than Government of India estimates leading to a saving of approx. 70 Cr in VGF grant. (Bid results attached for reference)
This project will pave the way for opening of Energy Storage sector in India and further bringing down the price of storage by demand creation. What India achieved in Solar Sector (by bringing tariff from Rs 17.91 to Rs 2.34 in 7 years) is possibly going to repeat in Energy Storage Sector with this tender. This project will have 20 MW of Solar and 28 MWhr of Battery and will be one of the largest project of its kind in entire Asia. The plant is expected to be commissioned by April 2019 i.e just before the end of tenure of central government adding another feather to the vision of Hob’l Prime Minister.
