Welspun Renewables India’s largest solar IPP, is committed to help address environmental issues through its ‘Disruptive Innovations Lab’. Under this program the company has launched initiatives like, ‘Green Heroes’ that enable development and adoption of sustainable models to tackle wider issues like climate change and social inclusion. Launched in collaboration with The Economic Times Acetech, the Green Hero campaign is aimed at identifying individuals who are making their surroundings and in turn the world, greener and healthier. Post much deliberation, Welspun Renewables has finally decided to partner withNarayana Peesapaty and create awareness for his edible cutlery initiative that offers a healthy and environment friendly alternative to non bio-degradable plastic cutlery.
On the occasion Vineet Mittal, Vice Chairman Welspun Renewables commented “I feel elated when I see that we, at Welspun Renewables, are part of the change that is bringing about the betterment of this planet. While institutional efforts continue to garner recognition, it is critical that due notice be paid to individual efforts. Disruptive solutions from environment crusaders like Narayana Peesapaty should be encouraged. It is my firm belief that if each of us does our bit for the environment, we will be leaving a much cleaner planet for our future generations.
”Made out of jawar, through edible cutlery Naarayana Peesapathy hopes to encourage farmers togrow more millet crops as an alternative to rice. Paddy fields are known to cause groundwater depletion in the long run and by increased millet cultivation, this depletion can be arrested.Welspun Renewables believes that sustainability and business can go hand in hand.
