The entire output will be exported to Japan, supporting its decarbonization goals. In Detail : ACME Group will establish a green hydrogen-based ammonia production facility with an annual capacity of 400,000 tonnes at the Tata Steel Special Economic Zone (Tata SEZ) in Gopalpur, Odisha. The announcement was made during the Groundbreaking and Inauguration Ceremony for five industrial projects at the Gopalpur Industrial Estate, which was attended by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, senior government officials, and ACME executives.
The project, set to begin supply in 2029, is backed by a long-term agreement with a Japanese corporation to export the entire output from the Odisha plant. The initiative forms part of ACME’s global strategy to promote the adoption of green hydrogen and ammonia across hard-to-abate industrial sectors and aligns with Japan’s Net Zero goals.
According to ACME, the project will support India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and contribute to decarbonising industries through clean fuel alternatives. It is also expected to create over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs, further boosting Odisha’s clean energy ecosystem.
“The facility at Gopalpur will play a crucial role in accelerating India’s energy transition while strengthening global green energy supply chains,” the company stated.
