In Detail : JSW Energy, through its subsidiary JSW Neo Energy, has signed a significant 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). The agreement is under the Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) Tranche IV scheme, marking a major milestone in JSW Energy’s renewable energy journey.
Under this PPA, JSW Neo Energy will supply 230 MW of ISTS-connected renewable power that is firm and dispatchable. The agreed tariff is ₹4.98 per unit, ensuring a stable pricing structure over the long-term duration of the agreement.
This is JSW Energy’s first PPA under the FDRE framework, which focuses on ensuring round-the-clock renewable power supply by integrating renewable generation with energy storage or other balancing solutions.
The addition of this project brings JSW Energy’s under-construction capacity to 12.9 GW. It also increases the company’s total locked-in generation capacity to 30.2 GW, a significant stride toward its long-term growth objectives.
JSW Energy has been strategically focusing on enhancing its green energy portfolio. The company is targeting 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by the year 2030, aligning with India’s national renewable goals.
This project also reflects the industry’s shift towards more reliable renewable power sources. FDRE models are becoming increasingly crucial for maintaining grid stability while scaling up renewable energy deployment.
The CEO of JSW Energy, Sharad Mahendra, emphasized that this agreement is a testament to their commitment to offering innovative and reliable energy solutions tailored to dynamic power requirements.
He further noted that this achievement aligns with India’s broader vision of a cleaner energy future and underlines JSW’s role as a key contributor to the energy transition.
With this PPA, JSW Energy is reinforcing its position as a leading player in India’s clean energy sector, pioneering solutions that ensure both sustainability and dependability in power supply.
