In Detail : Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited has issued a tender for developing a 500 MW/2,000 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage System under the Viability Gap Funding scheme.
The project will be executed on a build-own-operate model, with developers responsible for setting up and operating the storage facility for the contract period.
A 12-year agreement will govern the supply of storage services, ensuring reliable and long-term grid support.
The storage system is aimed at enhancing grid stability, managing peak demand, and facilitating greater integration of renewable energy sources into the state’s power network.
By deploying large-scale storage capacity, Rajasthan seeks to reduce curtailment of solar and wind generation during periods of low demand.
The tender is expected to attract participation from both domestic and international energy storage developers.
Bidders will need to meet specific technical and financial eligibility criteria to qualify for the project.
Officials believe the project will strengthen Rajasthan’s position as a leader in renewable energy adoption and modern power infrastructure.
The initiative is part of the state’s broader plan to expand clean energy capacity while improving the reliability and flexibility of its power system.
