In Short : The Asian Development Bank (ADB) unveiled a new Country Partnership Strategy for Indonesia to boost inclusive, resilient, and sustainable growth. The strategy emphasizes green transition, digital transformation, and stronger social protection. By investing in infrastructure, renewable energy, and human capital, ADB aims to support Indonesia’s long-term vision of sustainable development and economic competitiveness in the region.

In Detail : JAKARTA, INDONESIA — The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has launched a new Country Partnership Strategy (CPS) for Indonesia for 2025–2029. The strategy is designed to support Indonesia in achieving accelerated economic growth that is inclusive, resilient, and sustainable.

Over the next five years, the strategy will focus on three strategic pathways: investing in people, advancing economic competitiveness, and enhancing resilience and sustainability. These pathways are underpinned by crosscutting priorities, including women’s empowerment and social inclusion, digitalization, stronger governance and institutions, and regional cooperation and integration.

“Through a solid partnership spanning six decades, ADB remains steadfast in supporting Indonesia’s sustainable development,” said ADB Country Director for Indonesia Jiro Tominaga. “The new strategy is aligned with Indonesia’s medium-term development plan and its eight priority missions, commonly known as “Asta Cita”. Over the next five years, ADB will focus on innovative partnerships and financing solutions to unlock private capital and advance inclusive growth.”

Under the first pathway, ADB will invest in people’s skills, health, nutrition, and social protection to bolster the well-being of Indonesians and to ensure that the demographic dividend drives inclusive growth. ADB will help to enhance healthcare and nutrition for mothers, children, and the elderly; build labor force skills to meet industry’s needs; expand access to quality education; and support actions to make the social protection systems more effective, adaptable, and responsive.

The second pathway will support the acceleration of economic growth and the generation of high-quality jobs through business and investment environment improvement while maintaining fiscal sustainability. ADB will support reforms that strengthen the business climate to boost trade, investment, and entrepreneurship.

It will also help deepen financial markets, mobilize green finance, and expand financial inclusion. It also seeks to address infrastructure gaps by investing in transport, urban mobility, inter-island connectivity, and digital infrastructure.

The third pathway aims to build Indonesia’s energy, water, and food security. ADB will support the country’s clean energy transition, promotion of renewables, and modernization of power grids, including through the ASEAN Power Grid. It will help tackle food insecurity, accelerate rural development, and support the goals of the national free and nutritious meals program by improving agricultural productivity, investing in irrigation, and strengthening distribution, logistics, and market access.

ADB is a leading multilateral development bank supporting inclusive, resilient, and sustainable growth across Asia and the Pacific. Working with its members and partners to solve complex challenges together, ADB harnesses innovative financial tools and strategic partnerships to transform lives, build quality infrastructure, and safeguard our planet. Founded in 1966, ADB is owned by 69 members—50 from the region.
