Avaada Powers Rajasthan’s Clean Revolution: Pugal Solar Park to Become India’s Largest Solar-Battery Energy Hub – EQ
In Short : Avaada Group is developing India’s largest solar-plus-battery project at Pugal Solar Park in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district, featuring a 1,560 MWp solar plant with a 2,500 MWh battery system. Spread across 4,000 acres and costing ₹9,200 crore, the project will supply clean power round the clock, boost grid stability, and drive Rajasthan’s green energy transition.
In Detail : Avaada Group has announced the development of India’s largest solar-plus-battery project at Pugal Solar Park in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The project represents a major leap in the country’s renewable energy ambitions and is set to establish Rajasthan as a leader in integrating large-scale solar energy with advanced battery storage technology for continuous power delivery.
Spread over 4,000 acres of arid land, the Pugal Solar Park will house a massive 1,560 MWp solar power facility paired with a 2,500 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). This combination will enable the plant to store excess energy generated during the day and discharge it during nighttime or cloudy hours, ensuring reliable and steady power supply.
With an investment of approximately ₹9,200 crore, the project reflects India’s growing focus on sustainable infrastructure and grid modernization. The solar-battery hybrid design reduces dependency on fossil fuels while strengthening energy security. It is also expected to serve as a model for future large-scale renewable energy projects in the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the initiative as a milestone in India’s clean energy journey, calling it a symbol of innovation, efficiency, and self-reliance. The project’s design not only targets energy generation but also emphasizes environmental sustainability, reducing carbon emissions and minimizing land and water usage.
The Pugal Solar Park will integrate seamlessly with the state power grid through newly developed high-capacity transmission lines. This infrastructure will ensure that power flows efficiently to major demand centers, supporting both residential and industrial users while maintaining grid balance and stability.
One of the key objectives of the project is to deliver clean energy beyond daylight hours, addressing one of the most pressing challenges in solar power generation—intermittency. The advanced BESS technology will allow storage of solar energy during peak generation and release it when demand is highest, ensuring round-the-clock supply.
The project is also expected to have a significant socioeconomic impact on the Bikaner region. It will create thousands of jobs during construction and operation, promote skill development, and bring ancillary business opportunities to nearby communities, contributing to Rajasthan’s rural development and green economy.
Avaada Group has emphasized that sustainability lies at the core of the project, with strong commitments to efficient water usage, biodiversity protection, and the use of environmentally friendly construction materials. These efforts align with India’s broader goals of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.
Once operational, the Pugal Solar Park will stand as a testament to India’s technological leadership and policy-driven growth in renewable energy. By combining large-scale solar capacity with cutting-edge battery storage, Rajasthan will illuminate a path toward a cleaner, more resilient, and energy-secure future for the nation.
