In Short : GIPCL has commissioned 465 MW of its 600 MW Khavda Solar Project in Gujarat’s Khavda Renewable Energy Park. This phase forms part of the 2,375 MW park and was won under a GUVNL tender at a tariff of ₹2.73/kWh. Full commissioning of 600 MW is expected soon, raising GIPCL’s total operational solar capacity in Gujarat to 652 MW.

In Detail : Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd (GIPCL) has successfully commissioned 465 MW of its 600 MW Khavda Solar Project in Gujarat. The project is part of the larger Khavda Renewable Energy Park, which is planned for a total capacity of 2,375 MW. This milestone marks a significant step in GIPCL’s expansion of renewable energy operations in the state.

The 465 MW capacity represents the completion of several development phases, with the remaining 135 MW expected to be commissioned by year-end. This staggered approach ensures smooth integration into the grid while maintaining project timelines. The project highlights GIPCL’s capability to execute large-scale solar installations efficiently.

The Khavda Solar Project was awarded under a GUVNL tender with a green-shoe option, reflecting strong competitive bidding. GIPCL quoted a tariff of ₹2.73 per kWh, aligning with the lowest bids in the auction. This cost-competitive rate strengthens the financial viability of the project.

Tata Consulting Engineers has been appointed as the Project Management Consultant for the Khavda project. Their involvement ensures professional oversight of project design, engineering, and execution. With expert guidance, GIPCL can maintain high standards for performance and operational reliability.

Connectivity for power evacuation has been secured from the Central Transmission Utility of India Ltd (CTUIL). This ensures that the electricity generated from the Khavda solar units can be efficiently transmitted to the grid without bottlenecks. Grid integration is a key component of large-scale renewable projects.

The project combines advanced solar technology and robust infrastructure to optimize energy generation. By leveraging Gujarat’s favorable solar conditions, GIPCL aims to maximize output while ensuring sustainability and minimal environmental impact. The project contributes meaningfully to the state’s renewable energy targets.

GIPCL’s commissioning of 465 MW also enhances its credibility as a leading renewable energy developer. The project showcases its ability to execute complex, high-capacity solar projects on schedule. It positions the company for future renewable energy opportunities in India and internationally.

Once fully commissioned, the 600 MW Khavda Solar Project will significantly increase GIPCL’s installed solar capacity in Gujarat. With 465 MW already operational, the company’s total solar footprint in the state now stands at 652 MW, strengthening its role in India’s clean energy transition.

Overall, the Khavda Solar Project reflects GIPCL’s commitment to sustainable energy growth. By expanding large-scale solar capacity, the company supports India’s renewable energy goals, provides cost-effective clean power, and sets an example for efficient project execution in the rapidly evolving energy sector.
