## 📜 **Background**
* MERC’s amended DOA regulation allows **Green Energy Open Access (GEOA)** for consumers with **Contract Demand below 1 MW**:
* **HT consumers**: Require **Special Energy Meters**
* **Eligible LT consumers**: Require **ToD meters**
* Purpose: Standardize metering practices for **Low Tension (LT)** consumers under GEOA.

## ⚙️ **Guidelines for LT Consumers Opting for GEOA**
1. **Meter Type**:
* Install **Four Quadrant Bidirectional (Import + Export) Smart LT-ToD meters** for all eligible LT GEOA consumers.
2. **Meter Provision**:
* Supplied via **Advanced Metering Infrastructure Service Provider (AM ISP)** as per existing practice for LT consumers.
3. **Cost Responsibility**:
* Consumer to bear cost of **Main Meter** and **Check Meter** installation as per MERC-approved **Schedule of Charges** (Case No. 217 of 2024).
4. **Number of Meters**:
* **Two separate meters** required:
* **Main Meter**
* **Check Meter**
* Must comply with **CEA (Installation and Operation of Meters) Regulations, 2006** (as amended).
5. **Approval of Meter Specifications**:
* Granted by **Superintending Engineer (O\&M)** in consultation with **Superintending Engineer (TQA)**, following MSEDCL standard procedure.
