JSL Super Steel Taps Solar Power to Drive Sustainable Manufacturing in Uttar Pradesh – EQ

The deal supports nearly 40% of its energy needs with clean power, cutting 12 million kg of carbon emissions yearly. This move aligns with its goal to reduce emissions by 50% by 2035.
In Detail : JSL Super Steel, a subsidiary of Jindal Stainless, has partnered with Sunsure Energy to procure 11 MW of solar power for its manufacturing facility in Uttar Pradesh. This clean energy will be sourced from Sunsure’s 49 MWp solar project in Augasi, located in the same state.
The solar energy supplied under this agreement will cover around 40% of the plant’s total power consumption. This move marks a significant step toward the company’s broader sustainability goals and its commitment to reducing dependence on conventional energy sources.
Annually, the partnership is expected to generate approximately 16.5 million units of clean electricity. As a result, the company will be able to cut down nearly 12 million kilograms of carbon emissions every year. This is equivalent to the environmental benefit of planting over 545,000 trees.
JSL Super Steel specializes in producing stainless steel long products such as wire rods and rebars. With an annual rolling capacity of 160,000 tonnes, these products play a vital role in sectors like construction, automotive, and manufacturing.
The initiative also aligns with Uttar Pradesh’s State Power Banking Policy, contributing to energy security and improved power management within the region. It strengthens the state’s renewable energy infrastructure while supporting industrial growth.
