In Short : NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd has fully commissioned its 150 MW solar PV project in Gujarat, completing the final 60 MW phase on April 16, 2025. Certified by GEDA on April 30, the project was developed in three phases under GUVNL’s 500 MW solar tender. It marks a significant step in NTPC’s push toward clean energy expansion.
In Detail : NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd, a subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Ltd, has announced the full commissioning of its 150 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Gujarat. The project was developed under Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited’s (GUVNL) 500 MW solar tender. It is spread across three different sites—Limbdi, Mesanka, and Radhanpur—marking another milestone in NTPC’s renewable energy journey.
The final 60 MW of capacity, located at Radhanpur, was declared fully operational on April 16, 2025. This phase was certified by the Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA) on April 30, confirming its readiness and compliance with regulatory and operational standards. The project’s earlier phases at Limbdi and Mesanka had already become commercially operational in December 2024.
The project was executed under an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract with Tata Power Solar Systems Ltd. Each phase of the project was carefully planned and commissioned to ensure minimal delays and maximum efficiency. The partnership with Tata Power Solar is consistent with NTPC’s strategy of engaging top-tier contractors for its clean energy developments.
This 150 MW solar installation significantly adds to NTPC Group’s total installed capacity, which stood at 76,560.68 MW as of December 2024. The project is expected to contribute meaningfully to the grid, enhancing Gujarat’s share of renewable energy and supporting India’s broader national energy goals.
NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd plays a key role in helping NTPC meet its renewable energy target of 60 GW by 2032. With each new project, NTPC is making steady progress toward this goal, aligning with the Government of India’s ambitious climate and energy commitments. The Gujarat solar project is one among many developments planned to scale up green power generation across the country.
The successful commissioning of this project highlights NTPC’s capabilities in project execution, coordination with state agencies, and commitment to clean energy. It also underscores the potential for solar power to become a dominant part of India’s energy mix, especially in states like Gujarat that receive high solar insolation throughout the year.
