In Detail : NTPC has unveiled an ambitious plan to invest ₹80,000 crore in Telangana’s renewable energy sector, marking a major step in the state’s green transition.

The investment will focus on solar, wind, and floating solar projects, with floating solar holding a significant share of the potential.

According to NTPC, Telangana has the capacity to generate up to 6,700 MW through floating solar installations alone, making it one of the most promising regions for this technology.

NTPC CMD Gurdeep Singh presented the proposal during a meeting with Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad.

During the meeting, Gurdeep Singh highlighted NTPC’s commitment to supporting India’s renewable energy targets while also contributing to Telangana’s economic growth and sustainable development.

Chief Minister Reddy assured the state government’s full cooperation and expressed confidence that the projects would create jobs and strengthen the state’s position in the renewable energy sector.

Floating solar technology, which involves installing solar panels on water bodies, offers multiple benefits including reduced land use, improved panel efficiency, and water conservation by reducing evaporation.

The planned investment aligns with NTPC’s broader strategy to expand its green portfolio and achieve significant renewable capacity by 2032.

This development signals a strong collaboration between the public sector and the Telangana government, promising to accelerate the state’s journey towards a clean and sustainable energy future.
