In Detail : SAEL Industries Ltd. has successfully commissioned its 298 MW (DC) solar power project in Jalore, Rajasthan. The project, executed through its subsidiary Sunfree Energy RJP1 Pvt Ltd, spans over 1,000 acres. Completed ahead of its scheduled commercial operation date of August 17, 2025, it represents a major step in SAEL’s renewable energy expansion. The facility underscores the company’s commitment to advancing clean energy in India.

The project utilizes state-of-the-art TOPCon solar photovoltaic modules manufactured at SAEL’s Kishangarh facility in Rajasthan. These modules include both 146-cell and 156-cell configurations, delivering peak outputs of up to 635 Wp. With an efficiency of 22.95%, they are among the most advanced solar modules currently available in India. Over 80% of the modules installed were produced locally, promoting domestic manufacturing.

SAEL signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Rajasthan Urja Vikas and IT Services Ltd (RUVITL) in February 2024. The PPA fixes the electricity tariff at ₹2.61 per kWh, ensuring stable returns for the project. This long-term agreement emphasizes the strategic importance of the project in enhancing Rajasthan’s renewable energy capacity and grid integration.

The facility is strategically located to optimize transmission connectivity. Being connected to the State Transmission Utility minimizes transmission losses and ensures reliable power supply to the region. The project’s design and location highlight SAEL’s focus on efficiency and operational excellence in utility-scale solar development.

This commissioning marks SAEL’s largest solar power project connected to a state grid. It reflects the company’s growing footprint in India’s renewable energy landscape. SAEL continues to leverage its expertise in solar technology to contribute meaningfully to India’s clean energy transition, strengthening its position as a leading solar developer.

The project also aligns with SAEL’s broader renewable energy portfolio, which includes over 7.7 GW of solar IPP assets across the country. In addition, the company has 3.5 GW of TOPCon solar module assembly capacity and 165 MW of agri waste-to-energy projects. This diverse portfolio showcases SAEL’s commitment to multiple clean energy solutions.

SAEL is simultaneously developing a 5 GW integrated solar cell and module manufacturing facility in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. This facility will further strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities and support India’s goal of becoming a global solar manufacturing hub. The initiative highlights SAEL’s focus on scaling technology and capacity.

The solar project contributes significantly to Rajasthan’s renewable energy generation and sustainability goals. By producing clean electricity locally, it reduces dependency on conventional energy sources and lowers carbon emissions. The project also demonstrates the economic benefits of large-scale solar development, including local employment opportunities during construction and operations.

SAEL’s 298 MW project in Jalore reinforces India’s renewable energy ambitions. With advanced technology, local manufacturing, and strategic partnerships, it sets a benchmark for future solar projects. The successful commissioning reflects SAEL’s vision of leading India’s transition to a sustainable energy future, combining innovation, efficiency, and long-term environmental impact.
