SCC Infrastructure–InSolare Consortium Secures SECI Contract to Supply 70,000 TPA Green Ammonia in Maharashtra – EQ
In Short : SCC Infrastructure and InSolare Energy have won SECI’s green ammonia auction under the SIGHT Scheme, securing a contract to supply 70,000 tonnes annually to Madhya Bharat Agro Products-III in Dhule, Maharashtra, at ₹53.05/kg. This fourth auction in the series advances India’s push for green hydrogen derivatives, supporting clean energy transition and sustainable industrial growth.
In Detail : SCC Infrastructure and InSolare Energy have emerged as winners in the latest green ammonia auction conducted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). The bidding took place under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Scheme, Mode-2A, Tranche-I, which focuses on boosting domestic production of green hydrogen derivatives.
The consortium secured a contract to supply 70,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually to Madhya Bharat Agro Products-III, located in Dhule, Maharashtra. The winning bid was placed at ₹53.05 per kilogram, reflecting competitive pricing in the emerging green ammonia market.
This marks the fourth successful auction out of a planned series of thirteen under SECI’s green hydrogen and derivative procurement programme. Each auction is designed to encourage private sector participation and scale up India’s clean fuel infrastructure.
Green ammonia, produced using renewable energy and green hydrogen, is gaining attention as a sustainable alternative for use in agriculture, shipping, and industrial applications. Its adoption is expected to reduce carbon emissions in traditionally high-emission sectors.
The SIGHT Scheme, launched by the Government of India, aims to create a robust ecosystem for green hydrogen production and usage. By securing supply agreements through competitive bidding, the scheme ensures cost-effective procurement while promoting technological innovation.
SCC Infrastructure and InSolare Energy’s win underscores their commitment to investing in clean energy solutions. The companies plan to leverage renewable power sources to ensure that the ammonia production process remains carbon-neutral.
Industry analysts believe that the winning price of ₹53.05 per kilogram represents a positive step towards achieving cost parity with conventional ammonia, making green ammonia more attractive to large-scale consumers.
This auction is expected to have a ripple effect on the renewable energy sector, encouraging more developers to explore opportunities in green hydrogen and its derivatives. It also aligns with India’s goal of becoming a global leader in the production and export of clean fuels.
With nine more auctions to go under the current plan, the SECI initiative is likely to accelerate momentum in India’s green hydrogen economy, fostering both environmental benefits and economic opportunities.
