SCCL Chief Enforces Strict Deadlines to Fast-Track Solar and Storage Projects – EQ
In Short : SCCL CMD N. Balram has directed contractors to complete solar power and battery storage projects on time, warning of blacklisting if deadlines are missed. With 122 MW of solar capacity under construction and rooftop installations due by December, SCCL is pushing hard on its green energy goals. A 28 MW BESS project must be finished by August without fail.
In Detail : Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) Chairman and Managing Director N. Balram has issued a strict directive to contractors involved in solar power projects, urging them to complete all works within the stipulated timelines. He made it clear that no extensions will be granted beyond October and warned of blacklisting and contract termination for delays.
During a high-level review meeting held at Singareni Bhavan in Hyderabad, Balram reviewed the progress of various ongoing solar initiatives. The projects currently under execution include 54.5 MW of ground-mounted solar capacity in phase one and 67.5 MW in phase two. He expressed concern over the slow pace of work despite SCCL making timely payments.
In particular, he emphasized the urgency of completing the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project at the 28 MW Mandamarri solar plant by August. He stated that this deadline is non-negotiable and critical to SCCL’s clean energy strategy. The BESS is expected to enhance grid stability and renewable energy integration.
Balram also reviewed the progress of rooftop solar installations under the Centre’s Surya Ghar Yojana. He directed officials to ensure that these rooftop systems are fully installed and operational by December this year, aligning with the national renewable energy targets and SCCL’s sustainability goals.
In addition to ongoing projects, SCCL has floated tenders for 137 MW of new solar installations across Telangana. The company is also exploring ventures into wind power, geothermal, battery storage, and green hydrogen. These efforts are part of SCCL’s broader transition from a coal-based entity to a diversified green energy enterprise.
The CMD’s firm stance on accountability and timely execution reflects SCCL’s ambition to become a leader in India’s renewable energy space. By linking project deadlines with strict consequences, the company aims to maintain efficiency and uphold its commitment to sustainable energy development.
