Target for e-3Ws (L5) achieved under PM E-DRIVE Scheme – A milestone in e-mobility for Govt. of India – EQ
In Short : The Government of India’s PM E-DRIVE Scheme has successfully achieved its target for electric three-wheelers (L5), marking a major milestone in the nation’s e-mobility transition. This achievement highlights rapid adoption, policy support, and strategic incentives that have accelerated electric vehicle deployment, especially in urban and peri-urban areas, contributing to cleaner transport and reduced emissions.
In Detail : The PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE) Scheme was notified on 29.09.2024 with an outlay of Rs.10,900 crore.
2. The aggressive targets set by the MHI for the e-3Ws (L5) segment have been met ( 2.88 lac units ) ahead of time and the incentivization under the scheme for e-3Ws (L5) has been closed post 26/12/2025.
3. EV penetration within the e-3Ws (L5) segment is now estimated at ~32%, aligning perfectly with the government’s vision to establish a self-sustaining ecosystem.
4. As on 30/12/2025, a total of 21.24 lakh EVs have been sold under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme as detailed below:

5. Currently, e-2Ws have seen sales of 18,40,007 units against a target of nearly 24.79 lakh units. The incentive for e-2Ws and e-rickshaws/ e-carts under the Scheme shall continue up to 31/03/2026.
