In Short : TotalEnergies has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Adani Green Energy’s expansion in India. The French energy giant, which has invested around \$5 billion in India’s renewable sector, recently formed a joint venture with Adani Green to develop a 1,150 MW solar portfolio in Gujarat. TotalEnergies aims to grow its renewable capacity to 45 GW by 2030, aligning with India’s clean energy goals.

In Detail : French energy giant TotalEnergies has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), India’s largest renewable energy company, in its ambitious expansion plans. This announcement, made by TotalEnergies Chairman and CEO Patrick Pouyanne during a meeting with Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, signals a strengthening of the partnership despite previous reservations due to legal challenges faced by the Adani Group.

The two companies teamed up back in 2021 when TotalEnergies bought a stake in Adani Green. Together, they’ve been working on solar and wind projects to help India move toward greener energy. Adani Green is already a powerhouse, running 14.2 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy projects, and it grew by 30% just last year. That’s a big deal for India’s clean energy scene.

Pouyanne didn’t hold back, saying, “We are committed to continuing to support the expansion of Adani Green, which already has 14 gigawatts of capacity.” This comes after a brief pause last November when TotalEnergies got cautious due to some allegations about a $265 million bribery issue involving Adani executives. Adani Green has firmly denied those claims, and TotalEnergies confirmed it followed all the rules when investing.

Adani Green had a fantastic 2025 so far, adding 3.3 GW of new solar and wind projects and earning over $1 billion. It powered 16% of India’s big solar projects and 14% of its wind projects last year. With TotalEnergies’ support, they’re ready to do even more, helping India reach its green energy goals.

This partnership is a win for TotalEnergies, which has already poured $5 billion into India over the past five years. It’s also a boost for India’s push to lead the world in renewable energy, with Adani Green and TotalEnergies working hand in hand to make it happen.
