The government plans to provide a charging facility for electric vehicles every three kilometres. For this, private sectors will also be encouraged on a large scale.

All owners of battery-powered vehicles in Delhi will no longer have to pay road tax under the new electric vehicle policy. The announcement was made by Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot on Sunday.

The Transport Department issued a notification on Saturday, saying that the Lieutenant Governor of the National Capital Territory of Delhi has exempted the tax on all battery-powered electric vehicles with immediate effect.

From October 10, 2020, there will be no road tax for the purchase of electric vehicles. The process of waiving registration fee has also started. However, people’s suggestions have been sought in regards to the decision on registration fees.
