He highlighted that decentralized solar installations, including those under the PM-KUSUM initiative, are expanding rapidly. However, increasing solar penetration is creating grid integration challenges that require additional planning, transmission strengthening, and flexible generation resources.

The Power Secretary stressed the need to deploy battery energy storage systems to support renewable integration. Storage solutions can help balance intermittent generation and ensure electricity availability during peak demand hours or when renewable output declines.

Strengthening transmission infrastructure was also identified as a critical priority. As renewable energy capacity grows, enhanced connectivity and grid modernization are necessary to transport power efficiently and prevent curtailment while maintaining system stability.

Officials also reviewed electricity supply for agriculture, loss reduction measures, and smart metering deployment. These initiatives are aimed at improving efficiency, reducing distribution losses, and ensuring better demand management across regions with high consumption growth.
