In Short : Adani Wind, part of Adani New Industries Ltd, aims to achieve 2.5 GW capacity this fiscal year, with 1.5 GW for Adani Green Energy and the rest for other Indian producers. Eyeing exports, Adani Wind has set up a research center in Germany following its acquisition of Windnovation, focusing on repowering projects in the European wind market.

In Detail : Adani Wind, the wind energy arm of Adani New Industries Ltd (ANIL), is aggressively targeting a capacity of 2.5 gigawatts (GW) for this fiscal year. Of this, 1.5 GW is earmarked for Adani Green Energy, while the remaining capacity will cater to other Indian renewable energy producers. This expansion aligns with Adani’s strategy to boost its renewable energy portfolio significantly.

In addition to domestic growth, Adani Wind is exploring opportunities in international markets. The company has set its sights on exports, focusing on the European wind energy sector. As part of this strategy, it has established a research center in Rostock, Germany, aiming to enhance its presence in the region and support repowering projects that are prevalent in the European market.

The establishment of the German research center follows Adani Wind’s acquisition of Windnovation, a financially distressed company. This acquisition is a strategic move to leverage Windnovation’s expertise and expand Adani Wind’s footprint in Europe. The company’s turbines are particularly suited for repowering projects, which involve replacing old turbines with more efficient ones—a key focus area in Germany.

Adani Wind’s capacity has witnessed substantial growth, rising from 1.5 GW to 2.25 GW in the past year. The company continues to expand its infrastructure and production capabilities, maintaining a strong position within the renewable energy sector. In the March quarter, Adani Wind’s turbine segment reported earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) of ₹274 crore, reflecting steady financial performance.

Engagement with independent power producers (IPPs) in Germany is part of Adani Wind’s strategic push to build partnerships and drive innovation. By tapping into the European market, the company aims to enhance its global competitiveness and capitalize on emerging opportunities in the wind energy sector. This initiative aligns with Adani’s broader vision of becoming a key player in both domestic and international renewable markets.

Adani Wind’s strategic focus on both domestic and international expansion is poised to strengthen its position as a global renewable energy leader. By integrating advanced research capabilities and leveraging acquisitions like Windnovation, the company is well-positioned to contribute significantly to India’s renewable energy targets while also making its mark in the European wind power landscape.
