Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission has passed its order on an application seeking approval of the source for a quantum of 500 MW power. The order regarding the application is signed, dated and issued by the Commission on April 29, 2021.

Haryana Power Purchase Centre, Panchkula, (HPPC) filed the petition on April 9, 2021 for procurement of 500MW power on short term basis through Traffic Based Competitive Bidding Process. The matter was heard on April 28, 2021 through a virtual court because of the pandemic.

According to the official notification, the Commission’s order said, “Given the justifications for source approval in terms of the demand supply gap during the months of May 2021 to September 2021, as well as competitive advantages of the proposed sources, the Commission approves procurement of short-term power from 01.05.2021 to 30.09.2021 from the sources and cost as proposed by the petitioner. However, this would be subject to merit order dispatch principle. Petition allowed”

Ld. Advocate submitted the variable cost or fuel cost of all HPGCL power stations as well as from sources such as CLP, APCL etc. during the hearing in the matter conducted on April 28.

The order of the commission said that the cost submitted is higher than the landed cost of proposed short- term power from May 1, 2021 and September 30, 2021. Hence, the present proposal is cost-effective. The petition is disposed of accordingly, said the official notification.
