In Detail : The International Solar Alliance (ISA) is set to convene its Seventh Regional Committee Meeting for the Asia-Pacific region in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from July 15 to 17, 2025. The meeting aims to foster collaboration among member countries and stakeholders to accelerate the adoption of solar energy across diverse geographies in the region.
The three-day event will see participation from government representatives, academic institutions, think tanks, and industry leaders. These stakeholders will come together to share insights, build partnerships, and discuss strategies to implement large-scale solar projects tailored to the region’s specific needs.
A key focus of the meeting will be the development of investment-ready solar solutions. ISA aims to co-develop scalable technologies and financial mechanisms that can attract capital and facilitate faster deployment of solar infrastructure in member countries.
The event will also explore catalytic finance options, digital innovation, and policy frameworks needed to support solar adoption. ISA’s emphasis on creating a “Silicon Valley for Solar” and regional e-procurement platforms reflects its commitment to enhancing efficiency and affordability in solar deployment.
Additionally, the agenda will include discussions on integrating emerging technologies such as green hydrogen and energy storage. These components are seen as critical for ensuring energy security and achieving long-term sustainability goals in the Asia-Pacific region.
Sri Lanka, which currently holds the Vice Presidency of the ISA for Asia-Pacific for 2025–26, will chair the meeting. The outcomes of the summit are expected to include Country Partnership Frameworks and strengthened regional cooperation to support clean energy transitions across the region.
