Summary:

### Key Amendments

#### 1. New Provision: Dual Source Supply for HT/EHT Consumers (Regulation 6.14)

A new sub-regulation **6.14** is inserted, which allows **HT/EHT consumers** to avail electricity supply from **two sources**, either:
– **Simultaneous use** of both sources, or
– One as a **standby source**

**Conditions**:
– Subject to **technical feasibility** and compliance with **safety regulations**.
– Consumer has the **liberty** to draw power from **zero to the contracted demand** from either source.
– The applicant must bear **all expenses** related to the extension of electric lines or plants for **both sources**, in addition to charges prescribed in **Schedule-I**.

#### 2. Amendment to Schedule-I: Double Plant Cost for Dual Source

A new **proviso** is added under **Schedule-I, clause 2.2(b)**, stating:

> **”Provided that if a consumer applies for dual source of supply with use of both sources simultaneously or standby source, double the plant cost will be charged.”**

This means that consumers opting for dual-source supply (either simultaneous or standby) will be charged **twice the normal plant cost**.

### Purpose and Impact

| Aspect | Details |
|——–|——–|
| **Objective** | To formalize the framework for HT/EHT consumers seeking dual-source electricity supply (e.g., for reliability, backup, or load management). |
| **Consumer Benefit** | Greater flexibility in managing power supply, especially for industries requiring uninterrupted or redundant supply. |
| **Cost Implication** | Higher upfront cost due to double plant cost and additional extension charges, but potentially improved supply reliability. |
| **Licensee Obligation** | Distribution companies must provide dual-source connections where technically feasible and upon compliance with safety norms. |
