In Detail : Roofsol Energy Pvt Ltd has achieved a major milestone by completing a 26 MWp rooftop solar plant at Sportking Limited’s facility in Bathinda, Punjab. This installation is recognized as the world’s largest rooftop solar project at a single location and under a single meter.

The project was developed under the behind-the-meter model, meaning the energy generated will be consumed directly by the host facility. This approach enables Sportking Limited to significantly reduce its dependence on grid power and lower its energy costs.

Sportking Limited is a vertically integrated textile conglomerate listed on the Indian Stock Exchange. The company is involved in manufacturing yarn, fabrics, and garments, and has a robust retail presence with exports to over 30 countries.

Roofsol Energy designed and executed the 26 MWp solar plant in three phases over the past 18 months. The plant incorporates advanced Trinasolar modules rated at 550 W and 695 W, ensuring high energy output and efficiency.

Sungrow inverters with a capacity of 125 kW were used to support the system. These inverters are known for their reliability and performance, contributing to the plant’s smooth operation and energy management.

The solar installation is expected to generate approximately 36 GWh of electricity annually. This output will help offset around 37,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions each year, significantly reducing Sportking’s carbon footprint.

Roofsol Energy expressed its gratitude to Sportking Limited, its team, and the many vendors and employees who contributed to the success of the project. The company highlighted the collaboration and dedication required to complete such a large-scale rooftop project.

As a leading EPC and Independent Power Producer, Roofsol Energy continues to invest in RESCO and group captive solar projects across India. The company has maintained its position among the top three rooftop EPC providers for the past three years.

This project showcases the growing potential of industrial-scale rooftop solar in India. It reinforces the role of clean energy in enabling sustainable growth and supporting businesses in meeting their environmental goals.
