Guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar inaugurated the Schneider Electric India Foundation (SEIF)’s Solar Energy Training Centre (SETC) at the Sri Sri University in Cuttack on Tuesday.
The inauguration took place after the university’s convocation attended by Union Human Resources Development Minister Prakash Javadekar. The SETC has been set up in partnership with the Sri Sri Rural Development Programme (SSRDP) Trust. The centre would educate and empower the youth to propel the growth of renewable energy sector in the country. With this, the Schneider Electric now has six functional renewable energy training centres across the country and has plans to set up three more such centres in the next few months at Jaipur, Lucknow and Bangalore. In the solar sector, the company has trained 600 youth so far and plans to train another 1,500 technicians by March 2018. SEIF vice-president Venkat Garimella spoke about need for solar training.
