Wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon Group said on Monday it has bagged an order of 50.4 MW to supply 24 units of its S111 turbines of 120 meters from a power producer for its project in Karnataka. Suzlon has won a repeat order from the firm for 24 units of S111 120 meter hybrid wind turbine, each with a rated capacity of 2.1 MW, the company said. “The project will see the first batch of our new S111 120 meter hybrid wind turbine generator being installed on a commercial scale. The project will be completed by June 2017,” company’s Group CEO JP Chalasani said. pti He said the S111 120 meter turbine is an innovative product and will be a game-changer in the Indian wind industry, with its cost effective design and superior technology it will further reduce the levelised cost of energy.
The project has the potential to provide power to over 27,000 households and reduce one lakh tonnes of CO2 emissions per annum. The S11X 2.1 MW platform features the time tested Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) technology which is designed to optimally harness available wind resources. “It not only delivers higher energy yield, but also offers higher return on investment for customers,” Chalasani added.
