DALLAS, Oct. 28, 2017  — Tri Global Energy, a leading U.S. originator and developer of utility-scale wind energy projects, leads Texas on more than 67 percent – nearly 3,464 MW — of all wind development currently under construction in the state, according to the Q3 2017 Market Report from the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), the trade group for the U.S. wind energy industry.

Texas accounted for 38 percent of all construction in the U.S., leading all other states with nearly 5,184 MW reported, according to AWEA. Since the start of 2016, Texas has lead total construction activity in the U.S., capturing between 37 – 54 percent of all construction activity.

“The scale of activity is largely due to the world-class wind resources in Texas and in other key regions throughout the U.S. and the success of the Production Tax Credit (PTC),” said John Billingsley, Chairman and CEO of Tri Global Energy.

Wind accounts for much of the electricity generated from renewable resources in Texas, which easily leads all other states in wind power projects under construction. If Texas were a country, it would be the sixth-largest wind power generator in the world.

“We have a bold vision for our energy future — to develop clean energy at an affordable cost through development of wind projects,” said Billingsley. “For our nation to achieve energy independence, we need to produce more renewable energy. That’s what we plan to do.”

The U.S. wind energy industry hit record expansion during the 3rd quarter of 2017. A total of 29,634 MW of wind projects, including those in Texas, are now under construction in the U.S., a 27 percent year-over-year increase and the highest level ever reported.
