A new 3MW wind turbine at Johnson & Johnson (J&J) Vision Care’s Vistakon manufacturing facility in County Limerick, has been officially opened.
Its location in the National Technology Park reflects J&J’s ambition that 20% of its electricity be procured or produced from clean/renewable sources by 2020 and that all of its facilities will be powered with renewable energy by 2050. All of the energy produced by the turbine will be used by the plant itself.

J&J approached Arup in 2011 to repeat our successful approach to securing planning permission for its sister plants, DePuy and Janssen in the Cork Lower Cork Harbour area in 2010. Our Environmental team in Cork prepared and submitted planning applications, Environmental Impact Assessments and a report for appropriate assessment screening for the wind turbine project.
