An additional seven power projects, five of which are powered by AC Energy (ACEN), have been endorsed by the Department of Energy (DOE) to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines for system impact study (SIS), bringing the total to 31 for 2021.

AC Energy will be developing solar farms in Rizal, particularly in the neighboring towns of Jala-jala and Pililla. The Jala-jala venture — the Rizal Solar Power Project — is the biggest among the new additions with a 300 megawatt-peak (MWp) upon completion. ACEN subsidiary AC Subic Solar, Inc. will be developing the project.

Meanwhile, the Pililla venture — the Rizal Floating Solar Project — is expected to sit on the waters of the Laguna De Bay with a capacity of 250MWp. AC Laguna Solar, Inc. is in charge of the project.

Another AC Energy project in Pililla, Giga Ace 4, Inc’s 150MW Pililla Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Project, also received clearance for SIS. Giga Ace 10 Inc’s 40MW Mariveles BESS Project in Bataan was likewise given the greenlight.

Rounding up the list of ACEN additions is Giga Ace 5, Inc’s 175MW Real ACE Wind project in Real and Mauban, Quezon.

With all the additions, AC Energy has the most number of projects cleared for SIS this year at eight, or a fourth of the list.

An SIS is an engineering study that assesses the impact of a proposed interconnection or transmission service request on the safety and reliability of a transmission system.

The DOE also endorsed two other projects, namely Real Wind Energy, Inc’s 250MW project also in Quezon and Solar Power Utilities Generator Corporation’s 49.8MWp Bato Solar Power Project in Palauig, Zambales.
